2009 BANNER MARTIAL ARTS OPEN MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT

This year's tournament was a great success!

Over 200 competitors from around the country visited Ennis on Sunday, 8th of February to take part.  Martial artists of all ages returned to this event, which has now developed an outstanding reputation among Irish martial artists for being a fair and politics-free venue where all are welcome without prejudice.  This year the event welcomed several styles of Taekwon-do, practitioners of Karate, Kickboxers, and also students of Mixed Martial Arts training.  Competitors tested their skills both  in Light-Contact Sparring and in traditional forms/patterns/kata.  It was a learning experience for all to witness and experience a variety of styles and methods, and to share a common passion for the sport.  The sportsmanship shared between schools was commendable.
